Visit at peak hour, in the evening and after heavy rain. Look at the road width, traffic, street lights and any water on the road, and speak to a neighbour or the security guard.
Which facilities should I check near a property?
Check schools, a hospital, a market, a pharmacy and transport stops. Ask how long each one takes to reach at busy times, not only how far away it is.
Should I choose the area first or the property first?
Area first is usually safer. A good home on a difficult street is hard to fix, while a small flaw in a good home is easier to live with. Shortlist two or three areas, then look at properties inside them.
